Hi, my name is Tina and I’m fascinated about the brain. I am married to Melvin, and we have just celebrated our Ruby wedding anniversary. Together we have two grown up children and blessed with three grandchildren. I need to tell you that I have experienced my own traumas in life. Even though I did not cope as well as I would have liked, I need to tell you that I have grown through them, making me the person I am today.
In 1999 I started my mental health nursing journey and what an experience it has been. The journey through time has been filled with wonderful experiences,
challenges, extreme highs and lows. This has helped to shape and define me in my growth to help others. At 62 years of age, I’ve accumulated a wealth of knowledge and developed numerous skills over the years. Rather than considering retirement, I find myself in what I affectionately call the “pre-retirement warm-up phase.” During this stage, my passion remains unwavering. I want to actively guide individuals toward realizing their full potential.
Why Learning About The Brain Matters To Me
Helping others to live their best lives has always been my passion, next to learning about the brain. Understanding the brain does not have to be complicated, it can actually become our best ally. When we learn how to work with it, we can tap into its incredible resources and unlock its full potential. The space between our ears is where our minds operate, and it’s possibly the most important place, as it controls how we experience and manage both mind and body.
The brain is not just a squishy mass inside our heads, it’s the control center for our thoughts, emotions, and actions. During my time as a mental health nurse, understanding how the brain works allowed me to support people in a way that addressed not just their symptoms, but their overall well-being.
When we grasp how the brain functions, we become more empathetic because we see beyond behaviour, we understand neurotransmitters, neural pathways, genetics, experiences, and trauma. For me, this understanding has been key in helping clients release emotions that stand in the way of healing.
I like to think of the brain as a canvas. When we learn about things like neurotransmitters, neural networks, and plasticity, we can better shape interventions and support. This is especially true in solution-focused hypnotherapy, where we use neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself. Through hypnosis, we help clients reshape their neural pathways, like remodeling a house by knocking down old walls and building something new and better.
More About Me And The Brain
Becoming a Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist was a conscious and exciting choice for me. Why? Because it helps people focus on practical, achievable solutions by tapping into the power of their own brains. Unlike some traditional therapies where people can feel stuck digging up the past (like archaeologists uncovering old bones), Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is all about looking forward. Think of it as being an architect of new possibilities. By explaining how the brain works, we give clients the tools they need to move forward and tackle their challenges head-on. For me, this is not just about stepping into retirement, it’s about starting a new chapter where empowerment and growth are at the heart of what I do.
I have always believed that the key to truly helping others is a person-centered approach. This belief was sparked when I trained as a Youth and Community Worker in 1997. The word that stood out for me during that training was “empowerment”, it really hit home. There’s a quote that’s stuck with me ever since: “You can help someone build their life, but you cannot build it for them.” That’s a truth I carry with me because, while we can guide, support, and encourage, real growth only comes from within.
As a facilitator, I have had the privilege of seeing people undergo transformational change. My role is not to hand out solutions; it’s to create the space for people to discover their own path forward. Ultimately, they are the architects of their lives, the ones laying each brick, shaping their future, and finding strength in their unique journeys.
For the past 25 years, I have been a dedicated learner. To me, learning is not just about gathering information, it’s about growing in ways that foster resilience and help navigate life’s ups and downs.
Modelling
At Wrexham Hypnotherapy, I wholeheartedly embrace knowledge-based modelling, a powerful approach that taps into the mind’s innate abilities to conquer personal, emotional, and habitual challenges. But what exactly does knowledge-based modelling entail?
Well, it’s about weaving together structured frameworks and evidence-backed techniques. Solution-focused hypnotherapy has a well thought out framework. Imagine it as a finely crafted tapestry, where threads of neuroscience about the brain, psychological research intersect with practical know-how.
How this works
Understanding your unique experience:
With my background as a mental health nurse, I begin by looking at different aspects of your life. It’s like adjusting the lens on a camera, zooming in to see your specific fears, hopes, and goals, then getting a clear picture of how your mind works, from your thoughts to your emotions.
A personalized approach:
From there, it’s all about tailoring the strategy to fit you. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, every approach is designed to meet your unique needs. Think of it like crafting a custom suit, perfectly measured and designed just for you.
Whether you’re working to break free from anxiety, change habits, or tap into your hidden potential, this knowledge-based approach gently guides the process. One step at a time, you start to see positive change unfold.
Why did I shift from over two decades in mental health nursing to Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy?
Because this approach EMPOWERS people. It gives them the knowledge and tools to access their own resources and create meaningful change in their lives. From my experience, I have seen firsthand how effective solution-focused hypnotherapy can be.
If you are ready for support and want to explore how this approach could help you, feel free to reach out. I offer a free initial consultation, there’s nothing to lose, only to gain.
